English translation

English translation prepared for SalafAlSalih.com from the cited Arabic source. It is not an official translation.

Original question

Among the reports they attribute to him, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is: “Whoever eats with someone who has been forgiven will be forgiven.”

Answer

Praise be to Allah. No chain of transmission for this is known among the people of knowledge, nor is it in any of the Muslims' books. They merely relate it from Sālim. Its meaning is not correct without qualification, for unbelievers and hypocrites may eat with Muslims.
