CHAPTER 01
Foundation
Know your Lord. Know the enemy’s limits.
Begin With Allah — Rabb, King, Ilah, Protector
Protection begins with knowing the One you worship and seeking refuge in Him.
Your Lord
He creates, sustains and governs.
The King
All dominion belongs to Him.
The One worshipped
Direct your worship and refuge to Allah alone.
قل أعوذ برب الناس ملك الناس إله الناس من شر الوسواس الخناس الذي يوسوس في صدور الناس من الجنة والناس
Close translation
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the whisperer who withdraws, who whispers in the breasts of mankind, from among jinn and mankind.
Make your concern servitude to Allah: worship Him, ask His protection and follow His guidance.
Evidence & understanding
ألم أعهد إليكم يا بني آدم أن لا تعبدوا الشيطان إنه لكم عدو مبين
Close translation
Did I not command you, children of Adam, not to worship Shaytan? Indeed, he is a clear enemy to you.
وأن اعبدوني هذا صراط مستقيم
Close translation
And that you worship Me? This is a straight path.
The warning against worshipping Shaytan belongs beside the command to worship Allah. Al-Tabari explains obedience to Shaytan here as obeying him in disobedience to Allah. This is not a licence to declare every sinful Muslim outside Islam.

Scholar’s explanation · Ibn Kathir
Ibn Kathir opens with Allah’s Lordship, sovereignty and divinity. The servant seeks refuge with the One who possesses these attributes. This is the governing foundation of the page.
Scholar’s explanation · Al-Tabari
فتطيعوه في معصية الله
Close translation: So that you obey him in disobedience to Allah.
The statement explains the command in its setting; it does not collapse all sins into the same ruling.
Study connection: Ibn al-Qayyim’s Ighathat al-Lahfan begins by examining the heart, its health and its need for Allah. Read the source notes below for the inspected English edition.
Know the Enemy — and Know His Limits
Allah has exposed a real enemy. His influence is real, and his authority is limited.
إن الشيطان لكم عدو فاتخذوه عدوا إنما يدعو حزبه ليكونوا من أصحاب السعير
Close translation
Indeed, Shaytan is an enemy to you, so take him as an enemy. He only calls his party to become inhabitants of the Blaze.
Know the hostility
Iblis is from the jinn. He calls to disobedience and seeks to divert people from Allah’s path.
Know the limits
He is a created being under Allah’s decree. He has no independent power to rival Allah.
إنه ليس له سلطان على الذين آمنوا وعلى ربهم يتوكلون
Close translation
He has no authority over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord.
إنما سلطانه على الذين يتولونه والذين هم به مشركون
Close translation
His authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who associate partners with Allah.
Oppose his invitation by obeying Allah. Do not fear him as a rival power, or excuse chosen disobedience by blaming him.
Evidence & understanding
كان من الجن ففسق عن أمر ربه
Close translation
He was of the jinn, and departed from his Lord’s command.
Context Excerpt from the account of Iblis refusing to prostrate to Adam.
وما كان لي عليكم من سلطان إلا أن دعوتكم فاستجبتم لي
Close translation
I had no authority over you; but I called you, and you responded to me.
Context Shaytan’s speech after judgement. He disowns those who followed him. The exception is disconnected: “but I called you.”
إن عبادي ليس لك عليهم سلطان وكفى بربك وكيلا
Close translation
Indeed, over My servants you have no authority. And sufficient is your Lord as Guardian.
Qur’an 16:99 does not say that a believer never experiences temptation. Qur’an 7:201 describes the people of taqwa being touched by an incitement, remembering and seeing clearly. Nor does 16:100 make Shaytan an independent ruler. Taking him as an ally and associating partners with Allah belong to the verse’s qualification. The rendering of 16:100 follows al-Tabari’s explanation that the pronoun in “bihi” refers to the Lord mentioned in the preceding verse.

Scholar’s explanation · Al-Tabari
وهذا من الاستثناء المنقطع عن الأول
Close translation: This is an exception disconnected from what precedes.
Al-Tabari explains the sense as “but I called you, and you responded.” Do not turn the verse into “he has authority only when you give it to him.”
Scholar’s explanation · Qatadah, as transmitted by al-Tabari
وعداوته أن يعاديه بطاعة الله
Close translation: Enmity towards him is to oppose him through obedience to Allah.
An early tafsir report located in al-Tabari. Its transmission is identified here; no separate claim of isnad authentication is made.
CHAPTER 02
Recognize the plot
See the invitation clearly. Guard the choices before you.
The Road-Cutter — Guard Your Journey to Allah
Keep travelling towards Allah even when distraction meets you on the way.
وإما ينزغنك من الشيطان نزغ فاستعذ بالله إنه سميع عليم
Close translation
If an incitement from Shaytan stirs you, seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
A whisper during prayer or remembrance is not a command to abandon worship. Seek refuge, refuse to follow the distraction and return to what you were doing.
Seek refuge and continue the act of worship. Do not make monitoring the whisper your new occupation.
Evidence & understanding
فليستعذ بالله ولينته
Close translation
Let him seek refuge in Allah and stop.
Context Excerpt from the instruction concerning the whisper: “Who created your Lord?”
ذاك صريح الإيمان
Close translation
That is clear faith.
Context The companions described thoughts they found too dreadful to utter. The reply concerns their rejection and abhorrence of those thoughts, not the evil content.
The instruction to stop concerns following the whispering chain. It does not forbid sincere questions asked to learn the religion.

Whispers & perception
A suggestion may arrive as a doubt, a beautiful promise or a persuasive invitation.
- Waswasah: whispering into the breast (114:4–6).
- Tazyin: making disobedience seem attractive (15:39).
- False hopes: promising what cannot be delivered (4:120).
Read the evidence
قال رب بما أغويتني لأزينن لهم في الأرض ولأغوينهم أجمعين
Close translation
He said: My Lord, because You have caused me to go astray, I will surely beautify things for them on earth, and I will surely lead them all astray.

Close translation
He promises them and fills them with wishes, but Shaytan promises them nothing but deception.
فليستعذ بالله ولينته
Close translation
Let him seek refuge in Allah and stop.
Context Excerpt from the instruction concerning the whisper: “Who created your Lord?”
Test the invitation against revelation, seek refuge and stop entertaining the whisper.
QUR’AN
Fear & emotion
Fear and grief can be exploited, but their mere presence does not identify a Satanic cause.
- Fear of poverty: discouraging the good Allah commands.
- Fear through allies: intimidation must not displace fear of Allah.
- Harmful secret counsel: a specific context for grief in Qur’an 58:10.
Read the evidence
الشيطان يعدكم الفقر ويأمركم بالفحشاء والله يعدكم مغفرة منه وفضلا والله واسع عليم
Close translation
Shaytan threatens you with poverty and commands you to indecency, while Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty. Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing.
إنما ذلكم الشيطان يخوف أولياءه فلا تخافوهم وخافون إن كنتم مؤمنين
Close translation
That is only Shaytan frightening you with his allies. So do not fear them; fear Me, if you are believers.
إنما النجوى من الشيطان ليحزن الذين آمنوا وليس بضارهم شيئا إلا بإذن الله وعلى الله فليتوكل المؤمنون
Close translation
Secret counsel is only from Shaytan, to grieve those who believe; but it cannot harm them at all except by Allah’s permission. And upon Allah let the believers rely.
Trust Allah, obey His command and distinguish a revealed warning from guesses about the cause of every emotion.
AUTHENTIC SUNNAH
Worship
Interference may take the form of distraction, repeated checking or troubling whispers.
- Distraction in salah has a specific Sunnah response.
- Bare suspicion does not remove established purity.
- Hated intrusive thoughts are not automatically chosen belief.
Read the evidence

Close translation
That is a shaytan called Khinzab. When you sense him, seek refuge in Allah from him and spit lightly to your left three times.
Context Instruction to Uthman ibn Abi al-As concerning interference in his prayer and recitation.
لا ينفتل ـ أو لا ينصرف ـ حتى يسمع صوتا أو يجد ريحا
Close translation
He should not turn away—or leave—until he hears a sound or finds an odour.
Context The narrator’s alternative wording is retained. This concerns someone who suspects that he has passed wind during prayer. The point is certainty, not bare suspicion; sound and smell are examples, not the only possible evidence.
إن الله تجاوز عن أمتي ما حدثت به أنفسها ما لم تعمل أو تتكلم
Close translation
Allah has pardoned my community for what their souls say within them, as long as they do not act on it or speak it.
Context Unchosen inner speech must be distinguished from deliberately adopted beliefs, settled intentions and other chosen acts of the heart.
Use the remedy for your actual case. Continue worship instead of repeatedly restarting it on suspicion.
QUR’AN · AUTHENTIC SUNNAH
Desire
The forbidden route can be made to seem harmless, necessary or impossible to resist.
- The Qur’an prohibits approaching zina.
- Protecting the gaze and chastity closes prohibited approaches.
- Natural attraction is distinct from choosing a forbidden response.
Read the evidence
ولا تقربوا الزنا إنه كان فاحشة وساء سبيلا
Close translation
Do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is an outrage and an evil way.
قل للمؤمنين يغضوا من أبصارهم ويحفظوا فروجهم ذلك أزكى لهم إن الله خبير بما يصنعون
Close translation

يا معشر الشباب من استطاع الباءة فليتزوج فإنه أغض للبصر وأحصن للفرج ومن لم يستطع فعليه بالصوم فإنه له وجاء
Close translation
Young people: whoever can afford marriage should marry, for it better lowers the gaze and guards chastity. Whoever cannot should fast, for it is a restraint for him.
Context Ability and individual circumstances matter. This is not an individual legal ruling on every reader’s situation.
Lower the gaze, leave the prohibited approach and pursue lawful provision with patience.
QUR’AN · AUTHENTIC SUNNAH
Relationships
Discord grows when speech, anger and suspicion are allowed to govern conduct.
- Shaytan stirs discord between people (17:53).
- Anger has a prescribed refuge (Bukhari 3282).
- The warning about discord among worshippers retains its stated setting.
Read the evidence
وقل لعبادي يقولوا التي هي أحسن إن الشيطان ينزغ بينهم إن الشيطان كان للإنسان عدوا مبينا

Context Excerpt from the incident of two men arguing. This wording does not include al-rajim.
إن الشيطان قد أيس أن يعبده المصلون في جزيرة العرب ولكن في التحريش بينهم
Close translation
Shaytan has despaired of being worshipped by those who pray in the Arabian Peninsula, but he still seeks to stir discord among them.
Context Keep the stated people and place. This does not mean he has abandoned calling all humanity to shirk.
Say what is best, seek refuge when angry and repair the wrong you have actually done.
QUR’AN · AUTHENTIC SUNNAH · IMAM’S EXPLANATION
Religion, time & priorities
A person can be distracted from an obligation by something less important, even something good.
- Obligations come before voluntary deeds.
- Religious innovation is judged by the Sunnah.
- The “lesser good” analysis is Ibn al-Qayyim’s explanation, not a fixed revealed map.
Read the evidence
وما تقرب إلي عبدي بشيء أحب إلي مما افترضت عليه
Close translation
My servant draws near to Me with nothing more beloved to Me than what I have made obligatory upon him.
Context Excerpt: Allah’s words reported by the Prophet. Obligations take priority over voluntary deeds.
من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس فيه فهو رد
Close translation
Whoever introduces into this matter of ours something that is not part of it, it is rejected.
Context The wording here is ma laysa fihi, as in this particular Bukhari narration; it is not a composite of variants.
استحوذ عليهم الشيطان فأنساهم ذكر الله أولئك حزب الشيطان ألا إن حزب الشيطان هم الخاسرون
Close translation
Shaytan has gained mastery over them and made them forget the remembrance of Allah. Those are the party of Shaytan. Indeed, the party of Shaytan are the losers.
Ask: What does Allah require of me now? Do not let optional activity consume an obligation. Ordinary forgetfulness is not the mastery described in 58:19.
Recognize a method in order to obey Allah more clearly; do not become absorbed in speculation about the unseen.
Evidence & understanding
The six families are an editorial organization of the evidence. They are not six categories named together in revelation. Filters may overlap because a family can draw upon both Qur’an and Sunnah.
Evidence tiers on this page distinguish Qur’an, authentic Sunnah, early tafsir as transmitted, scholars’ explanations and present-day applications. A source badge never turns an application into a quotation.

فشغله بالمفضول عن الفاضل
Close translation: He occupies him with the lesser good at the expense of the greater good.
In his discussion of the sixth obstacle, Ibn al-Qayyim describes distraction through less excellent acts of obedience. A lesser good is not thereby a sin; the question is what duty or better act is being displaced.

Guard the Gates — Before a Thought Becomes a Step
Guard the choices through which a passing suggestion can become deliberate conduct.
Glances
Turn away from a prohibited look.
Passing thoughts
Do not cultivate an unlawful suggestion.
Utterances
Choose truthful, beneficial speech.
Steps
Do not walk towards a prohibited act.
The four headings come from Ibn al-Qayyim’s discussion in al-Daʾ wa-l-Dawaʾ. The bilingual headings summarize the discussion; they are not a quotation of a complete Arabic passage. This diagram is not an inevitable sequence, and an unwanted thought is not itself a chosen sin.
يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تتبعوا خطوات الشيطان
Close translation
Believers, do not follow the footsteps of Shaytan.
Context Opening of the verse. The verse goes on to mention indecency and wrongdoing, and purification through Allah’s favour and mercy.
Interrupt a prohibited choice early. Do not treat the arrival of an unwanted thought as proof that you accepted it.
Evidence & understanding
يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تتبعوا خطوات الشيطان ومن يتبع خطوات الشيطان فإنه يأمر بالفحشاء والمنكر ولولا فضل الله عليكم ورحمته ما زكى منكم من أحد أبدا ولكن الله يزكي من يشاء والله سميع عليم
Close translation
Believers, do not follow the footsteps of Shaytan. Whoever follows the footsteps of Shaytan, he indeed commands indecency and wrongdoing. Were it not for Allah’s favour upon you and His mercy, none of you would ever have been purified; but Allah purifies whom He wills. Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

Reading: Ibn al-Qayyim, The Disease and the Cure, Hikmah Publications, 2020, translated by Osman Hamid, printed pp. 340–341. The four headings are summarized here; the discussion should be read beside the authentic exemption for unchosen inner speech.
CHAPTER 03
Break his influence
Seek refuge. Remember. Return to worship.
Break the Loop — Remember, See Clearly, Return
Remembrance restores perspective and directs the servant back to obedience.
إن الذين اتقوا إذا مسهم طائف من الشيطان تذكروا فإذا هم مبصرون
Close translation
Indeed, when a passing incitement from Shaytan touches those who fear Allah, they remember, and at once they see clearly.
Educational illustration — not a revealed fixed sequence
The diagram illustrates repeated engagement with a whisper. It does not explain every thought, psychological condition or spiritual struggle.
Remember what Allah has taught, then take the next obedient action. You need not solve or analyse every returning whisper.

Close translation
That is a shaytan called Khinzab. When you sense him, seek refuge in Allah from him and spit lightly to your left three times.
Context Instruction to Uthman ibn Abi al-As concerning interference in his prayer and recitation.
The remedy is directed to the interference described in the narration. Spit lightly to the left with regard for the people and place around you; do not soil the mosque or harm another worshipper. This response is not a reason to abandon salah.
Before reciting the Qur’an
فإذا قرأت القرآن فاستعذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
Close translation
When you recite the Qur’an, seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan.
Seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan as you begin recitation. The term is istiʿadhah: seeking refuge. Read with attention and return to the meaning when distracted.
Certainty and recurring doubt
لا ينفتل ـ أو لا ينصرف ـ حتى يسمع صوتا أو يجد ريحا
Close translation
He should not turn away—or leave—until he hears a sound or finds an odour.
Context The narrator’s alternative wording is retained. This concerns someone who suspects that he has passed wind during prayer. The point is certainty, not bare suspicion; sound and smell are examples, not the only possible evidence.
If purity is established, mere suspicion does not overturn it. Repeated checking can turn worship into a burden. A known nullifier has its normal ruling; this instruction concerns doubt, not denial of a certain event.
What do I do right now?
Choose the situation- Distracted in salah
- Repeated wudu doubts

CHAPTER 04
Guard vulnerable doors
Protect your conduct, surroundings and priorities.
Guarding Desire — Do Not Approach the Forbidden Path
The command guards both chastity and the approaches that threaten it.
ولا تقربوا الزنا إنه كان فاحشة وساء سبيلا
Close translation
Do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is an outrage and an evil way.
01 Recognize attraction
Natural attraction is not itself impurity or a sin. The question is how you choose to respond.
02 Guard the gaze
Lower the gaze from what is prohibited. Do not deliberately feed the temptation through repeated looking.
03 Close the prohibited approach
Leave prohibited seclusion and the conversation, meeting or material that is leading you into disobedience.
04 Choose the lawful path
Seek lawful marriage when able, and practise the fasting taught to those unable. Ask for knowledgeable advice about your own circumstances.

Protect Your Environment — and Protect Your Priorities
Watch both what surrounds you and what is displacing your duties.
YOUR SURROUNDINGS
Choose what helps obedience
Close companionship influences conduct. Fill the home with remembrance and recitation, and leave gatherings or material that invite disobedience.

Close translation
A man follows the religion of his close friend, so let each of you consider whom he takes as a close friend.
Context A warning about close companionship; it is not a licence for unjust treatment of others.
YOUR PRIORITIES
Give each duty its right
Something useful can still be out of place. An optional lesson, discussion or project must not consume the time of an obligation.

In Talbis Iblis, Ibn al-Jawzi examines how deception can affect different forms of religious activity. Its educational value does not make every report in the book independently authentic; every hadith used on this page has its own source.
CHAPTER 05

قالا ربنا ظلمنا أنفسنا وإن لم تغفر لنا وترحمنا لنكونن من الخاسرين
Close translation
They said: Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will surely be among the losers.
ثم اجتباه ربه فتاب عليه وهدى
Close translation
Then his Lord chose him, accepted his repentance and guided him.
If you have sinned, return. Confess your wrong to Allah, ask His forgiveness and take the obedient path again.
Evidence & understanding
فوسوس إليه الشيطان قال يا آدم هل أدلك على شجرة الخلد وملك لا يبلى
Close translation
Then Shaytan whispered to him, saying: Adam, shall I direct you to the tree of everlasting life and a kingdom that will not decay?
قل يا عبادي الذين أسرفوا على أنفسهم لا تقنطوا من رحمة الله إن الله يغفر الذنوب جميعا إنه هو الغفور الرحيم
Close translation
Say: My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of Allah’s mercy. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
وأنيبوا إلى ربكم وأسلموا له من قبل أن يأتيكم العذاب ثم لا تنصرون
Close translation
Return to your Lord and submit to Him before punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped.
من كانت له مظلمة لأحد من عرضه أو شيء فليتحلله منه اليوم
Close translation
Whoever has wronged someone concerning his honour or anything else should seek release from that wrong today.
Context Excerpt. Repentance does not erase another person’s rights without addressing them. Seek knowledgeable guidance where the manner of repair is unclear.
Hope belongs with repentance. Stop the sin, regret it, resolve to leave it and address the rights of those you wronged. Allah’s mercy is not a reason to delay returning to Him.
Deeper study
Read the connected account in Qur’an 20:117–123 and 7:20–23. Keep the warning, the deceptive promise, the sin, repentance and guidance together. Do not invent dialogue or details that are absent from these texts.
Qur’an 39:53 is followed by the call to return and submit in 39:54. This pairing prevents both despair and the misuse of hope as permission to persist in sin.

Evidence & details
إنه ليس له سلطان على الذين آمنوا وعلى ربهم يتوكلون
Close translation
He has no authority over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord.
إنما سلطانه على الذين يتولونه والذين هم به مشركون
Close translation
His authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who associate partners with Allah.
Qur’an
Seek refuge before reciting
Begin recitation by seeking refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan.
Evidence & details
فإذا قرأت القرآن فاستعذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
Close translation
When you recite the Qur’an, seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan.
Morning & evening
The three protecting surahs
Recite al-Ikhlas, al-Falaq and al-Nas three times each in the morning and evening.
Evidence & details
قل هو الله أحد والمعوذتين حين تمسي وحين تصبح ثلاث مرات تكفيك من كل شيء
Close translation
“Say: He is Allah, One” and the two surahs of refuge, three times when evening comes and when morning comes: they will suffice you against everything.
Context The three surahs are al-Ikhlas, al-Falaq and al-Nas. The number three applies to each morning and evening recitation.
Daily
The remembrance of tawhid
Say the taught remembrance one hundred times in a day.
Evidence & details
لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير
Close translation
None has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone, without any partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He has power over all things.
Context The Prophet taught saying this one hundred times in a day, with the stated rewards and protection from Shaytan for that day until evening.
Sleep
Ayat al-Kursi
Recite Ayat al-Kursi (2:255) at bedtime.
Evidence & details
أما إنه قد صدقك وهو كذوب
Close translation
He has told you the truth, although he is a habitual liar.
Context The Prophet confirmed the statement to Abu Hurayrah that reciting Ayat al-Kursi at bedtime brings a guardian from Allah and that no shaytan will approach until morning. The initial advice was spoken by the captured shaytan, not directly by the Prophet.
Sleep
The three surahs at bedtime
Join the palms, blow lightly, recite al-Ikhlas, al-Falaq and al-Nas, and wipe the body as reported; repeat three times.
Evidence & details
يفعل ذلك ثلاث مرات
Close translation
He would do that three times.
Context Aishah reports that at bedtime the Prophet joined his palms, blew lightly into them, recited al-Ikhlas, al-Falaq and al-Nas, and wiped whatever he could of his body, starting with his head, face and front. The displayed Arabic is the closing excerpt, not the full narration.
Salah
When Khinzab interferes
Seek refuge and apply the taught response; return to the prayer.
Evidence & details
ذاك شيطان يقال له خنزب فإذا أحسسته فتعوذ بالله منه واتفل على يسارك ثلاثا
Close translation
That is a shaytan called Khinzab. When you sense him, seek refuge in Allah from him and spit lightly to your left three times.
Context Instruction to Uthman ibn Abi al-As concerning interference in his prayer and recitation.
Home
Recitation and remembrance
Recite al-Baqarah at home; remember Allah when entering and when eating.
Evidence & details
لا تجعلوا بيوتكم مقابر إن الشيطان ينفر من البيت الذي تقرأ فيه سورة البقرة
Close translation
Do not make your homes graveyards. Shaytan flees from the home in which Surat al-Baqarah is recited.
Context This establishes recitation in the home; it does not by itself establish that a recording has the same ruling.
إذا دخل الرجل بيته فذكر الله عند دخوله وعند طعامه قال الشيطان لا مبيت لكم ولا عشاء
Close translation
When a man enters his home and remembers Allah upon entering and at his food, Shaytan says: You have no lodging and no evening meal.
Context Excerpt. The remainder contrasts entering and eating without remembrance.
Temptation
Refuge, then refusal
Seek refuge, stop following the whisper and return to obedience.
Evidence & details
وإما ينزغنك من الشيطان نزغ فاستعذ بالله إنه سميع عليم
Close translation
If an incitement from Shaytan stirs you, seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
فليستعذ بالله ولينته
Close translation
Let him seek refuge in Allah and stop.
Context Excerpt from the instruction concerning the whisper: “Who created your Lord?”
Anger
Seek refuge in Allah
Use the refuge taught in the incident of the two arguing men.
Evidence & details
لو قال أعوذ بالله من الشيطان ذهب عنه ما يجد
Close translation
If he said, “I seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan,” what he is experiencing would leave him.
Context Excerpt from the incident of two men arguing. This wording does not include al-rajim.
After sin
Repent and restore rights
Return to Allah without despair and address the wrongs you have done.
Evidence & details
Learn a sound practice, understand its evidence and make room for it in your day.
Evidence & understanding
These practices are worship and means taught by revelation. Keep their wording, context and established counts. Do not invent a special number, guarantee, talisman or ritual. Protection is from Allah; the practices are not independent forces.
Ayat al-Kursi is referenced by verse number here. The short excerpt in its evidence drawer is the Prophet’s confirmation, not the entire longer narration.

Abd al-Razzaq al-Badr, The Benefits & Fruits of Dhikr, Maktabatul Irshad, 2018, translated by Abdullah bin Ali Somali, chapter “Dhikr Repels the Devil,” printed p. 37 onward. This study connects the believer’s protection with prescribed remembrance. The public practices above are each anchored directly to their own Qur’an or hadith source.
Use remembrance with understanding and obedience. A checklist can organize the day; it cannot replace sincerity or create a new act of worship.
CHAPTER 06
Hold fast
Let the final word be guidance, trust and obedience.
His Plot Is Weak — Hold Fast to Allah’s Guidance
Finish with Allah’s protection, the straight path and the hope of guidance.
إن كيد الشيطان كان ضعيفا
Close translation
Indeed, Shaytan’s plot is weak.
Context The verse occurs in the context of fighting the allies of Shaytan. Its statement must not be turned into a denial of all temptation or harm.
إن عبادي ليس لك عليهم سلطان وكفى بربك وكيلا
Close translation
Indeed, over My servants you have no authority. And sufficient is your Lord as Guardian.
فمن اتبع هداي فلا يضل ولا يشقى
Close translation
Whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray nor suffer misery.
Context Closing promise within the guidance given after the descent from the Garden.
Know the enemy without making him the centre of your life. Know your Lord, worship Him alone, follow the Messenger’s guidance and return to Allah whenever you slip.
Hold fast to Allah’s guidance. Seek His help, take the means He taught and keep returning to Him.
Evidence & understanding
وأن اعبدوني هذا صراط مستقيم
Close translation
And that you worship Me? This is a straight path.
إن الذين اتقوا إذا مسهم طائف من الشيطان تذكروا فإذا هم مبصرون
Close translation
Indeed, when a passing incitement from Shaytan touches those who fear Allah, they remember, and at once they see clearly.
Deeper study
The page begins with refuge in the Lord, King and God of mankind, and ends with His guidance. The enemy’s exposed methods serve that larger purpose: protecting servitude to Allah.
