The heavens and earth, life and death, rain and provision, sleep and waking, language, human creation, animals, plants and the ordered world around us.
وفي الأرض آيات للموقنين
وفي أنفسكم أفلا تبصرون
And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty. And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see?

The Earth
Signs in Revelation
The verses of the Qur’an are themselves ayat. Revelation does not merely tell us to look; it authoritatively teaches who our Lord is, what He commanded, and how the servant responds with faith, gratitude and worship.
Necessary distinction: created signs point beyond themselves to their Creator. Allah’s Names and Attributes are affirmed from revelation, not invented from analogies with creation. See ash-Shura 42:11.

The Qur’an directs the servant to signs in the created world and within himself, while revelation teaches him how those signs are to be understood and what response Allah requires.
The Qur’an does not direct us to creation so that we merely admire creation. The created order directs the servant to recognize his Lord, His power and wisdom, and the obligation to worship Him alone.

Every night consciousness recedes; every morning you awaken. Have you reflected on the sign of sleep?
The Heavens
You spoke today.
Sound, meaning, memory and language passed between human beings in moments.
The Earth
Rain fell.
Water descends, barren land revives, provision emerges, and creatures drink.
Living Creation
Your heart is beating.
It continues while you sleep, work and forget it. You remain dependent every moment.
Within Yourselves
The Qur’an directs the servant to signs in the created world and within himself, while revelation teaches him how those signs are to be understood and what response Allah requires.
Surah ar-Rum 30:20–25 draws attention to a remarkable sequence: human creation, spouses and mercy, the heavens and earth, languages and colors, sleep and provision, lightning and rain, and the heaven and the earth standing by His command.

Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding.
