Original Q&A · Full displayed answer
The answer corrects the questioner’s inference: earlier examples of delegation were illustrations, not rulings permitting it. The exception concerns stoning for children or people unable to perform it themselves. Delegating an entire pilgrimage is a separate issue.

Original question
Esteemed Shaykh, you mentioned partial delegation involving, for example, tawaf, stoning, standing, or similar acts. If delegation is permissible for stoning, may the other parts of Hajj be treated by analogy with it?
Answer
No. We said that these were examples of partial delegation, not a ruling that it is permissible. Hence we said that we do not know of anything in the Sunnah allowing delegation for these individual acts, or one person performing them for another, except stoning. We also said that when a person enters Hajj or Umrah, it becomes an obligation that he must perform himself. Accordingly, delegation is not permissible for any part of Hajj or Umrah, whether obligatory or voluntary, except stoning, because it is reported regarding children and likewise those unable to stone themselves, such as elderly people.
