Original question
He was asked about sunset: may the fasting person break the fast as soon as the sun sets?
Answer
When the entire solar disc has disappeared, the fasting person breaks the fast. The intense redness remaining on the horizon is of no consequence.
When the entire disc has disappeared, darkness appears from the east, as the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “When night approaches from here, day retreats from here, and the sun sets, the fasting person's time to break the fast has come.”
