Original question
Among the reports they attribute to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is: “Allah apologizes to the poor on the Day of Resurrection and says: ‘By My might and majesty, I did not withhold the world from you because you were insignificant to Me; rather, I wished to raise your rank on this day. Go to the place of gathering, and whoever treated you kindly with a piece of bread, gave you a drink of water, or clothed you with a scrap of cloth, take him into Paradise.’”
Answer
Praise be to Allah. This account is false. None of those knowledgeable about hadith has narrated it. By consensus, it is invalid and contrary to the Book and the Sunnah.
