Original question

One day we found the person responsible for a small mosque carrying seven copies of the Quran printed by the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran, some of them at a benefactor's expense; they belonged to the endowments. When we asked him about them, he said he wanted to do good by moving these copies to a large mosque in another city, because it had no copies and many people prayed there. What is the ruling on this action, esteemed Shaykh?

Answer

If the small mosque has no need of some of its copies of the Quran, there is no harm in transferring what is not needed there to another mosque that needs them. The purpose is for worshippers to benefit from these copies. The more cautious course is to obtain the imam's permission, because he knows the mosque's needs better. Allah is the One who grants success.
