Original question

May the mushaf be touched without wudu?

Answer

The position of the four imams is that only a purified person may touch the mushaf, as stated in the letter the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wrote to Amr ibn Hazm: “Only a purified person should touch the Quran.”

Imam Ahmad said that there is no doubt that the Prophet ﷺ wrote it to him. It is also the position of Salman al-Farisi, Abd Allah ibn Umar and others. No Companion opposing their position is known.
