Original question
If a poor person qualifies for zakah, may it be paid to him before the year ends and counted towards zakah at the year’s end?
Answer
There is no harm in paying it early with the intention of zakah. For example, if the year ends in Ramadan or Rajab, but today he sees a poor person in need and gives it to him intending zakah, there is no harm. It may be paid before the year ends, whether all of it or part of it.
