Read the nutritional exception together with the permission. The answer does not classify every contemporary treatment by name; it distinguishes ordinary injections from those that replace food and drink.

Original question

Esteemed Shaykh, what is the ruling on injections into a muscle or a vein?

Answer

There is no objection to injections into a vein, muscle, or hip, and they do not invalidate a fasting person’s fast. They are neither among the things that invalidate fasting nor equivalent to them: they are neither eating nor drinking nor equivalent to eating and drinking. We have already said that this does not affect the fast. What does affect it is injecting the patient with something that replaces food and drink.
