Selected explanation

Jonah, peace be upon him, said: “There is no deity except You. Glory be to You! I have indeed been among the wrongdoers.” In the Ṣaḥīḥ is the supplication that the Prophet, may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him, taught Abū Bakr to say in his prayer: “O Allah, I have wronged myself greatly, and no one forgives sins except You. Grant me forgiveness from Yourself and have mercy upon me. You are indeed the All-Forgiving, the Merciful.” This supplication corresponds to Adam’s supplication in acknowledging having wronged oneself and asking for forgiveness and mercy.
